Growing up with dogs, it felt strange not having a pet after getting married. We made it about eight months before bringing home our first puppy, Bernie—a bundle of fluff with a big personality. The backyard became his favorite spot and he would spend hours out there causing mischief and munching on leaves and sticks. Each time he came inside, he’d proudly present us with his favorite leaves as gifts. This pattern design is a collection of all Bernie’s favorite plants in his backyard.
